Our Beliefs

We are devoted to unity in the essential beliefs (Eph 4:4-6) and liberty in nonessential beliefs (Rom 14). In all beliefs, with God’s help, we demonstrate love (I Cor 13:2).

A. The Bible – The Word of God We believe the Bible is God’s revelation to mankind. As the very word of God, it is without error in the original manuscripts, and serves as our supreme and final authority in all matters about which it speaks. (2 Tim. 3:16-17:2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12)

B. God We believe there is one God who is, Creator of all things, and is one in essence, while eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Though each person of the God head possesses the same divine nature, each functions differently in office, activity and in respect to God’s dealing with man. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 3:21-22; 2 Cor. 13:13; Eph. 4:4-6)

C. God the Father We believe the Father is fully God who orders and directs all things according to His own purpose, will and for His own glory. (Gen. 1:1; Matt. 6:9; John 5:19-24, 2 Cor.1:3; Eph.1:3-6, 4:6)

D. God the Son We believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. He is fully God and fully man. He came to reveal God and redeem men. He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a substitutionary death on the cross. His death on the cross was a perfect and complete sacrifice for the sins of all people. He bodily rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and His return is imminent. (Matt. 1:18-25; John 1:1-2, 14; 3:16-18; Acts 1:9-11; Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:20; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 1:20; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 4:14-15; 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2)

E. God the Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit is equally God as the Father and the Son. He convicts people of their sin and makes them aware of their need for Jesus Christ, performs the miracle of new birth, and comes to live in every Christian the moment he or she trusts in Jesus Christ. He unifies all believers into one Body of Christ, empowers each believer for service, gives believers understanding of spiritual truths, and is the great helper and comforter throughout life. (Jn. 3:3-8; 14:16-17; 16:7-11; Acts 5:3-4; Rom. 8:9-11; 1 Cor. 2:13; 12:11-13; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)

F. Mankind We believe that man was created by God and for God; made in His image to reflect His Character. Therefore, all people have dignity. However, all people are corrupt and marred by sin and are alienated from God. Thus we are all under God’s just judgment which ultimately results in eternal death apart from God’s salvation. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 1:18-23; 3:23; 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:18-19; 1 Pet. 1:15-16)

G. Salvation A Change of Nature We believe salvation is a sovereign gift of God and is received by man through personal faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of His sacrifice for sin. We believe man is justified by grace through faith apart from works (Acts 13:38-39; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 1:4-5 & 2:8-10). We believe that all true believers, elect of God, once saved, are kept secure in Christ forever (Romans 8:1, 29-30, 38-39; John 10:27-30)

H. The Church We believe the church is the community of the redeemed -- The church consists of all believers in Jesus Christ, who by the sovereign grace of God, have entrusted their lives to Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and are baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Believers are committed to one another in love and called out of this world and into a worshipping, caring and ministering fellowship for the glory of God. (Rom. 12:5; 1Cor. 10:17, 12:12-27; Eph. 1:22-23; 2:15-17;3:6, 4:4)

I. End Times We believe the blessed hope of the church is the imminent return of Christ. The events of the return of Christ take place in the following order: the rapture of the Church, the Tribulation, the Second Advent, the establishment of the reign of Christ on earth for one thousand years, and finally the eternal state of punishment for the unsaved and the eternal state of blessing for the saved. (Titus 2:13; I Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18; 5:4-10; John 14:1-3; Matt. 24:21, 29, 30; 25:31-46; Rev. 3:10)

J. Dispensations We believe God has revealed different dispensations or stewardships, each with corresponding rules of life which characterize the believer's relationship with God. However, salvation has always been on the basis of God's grace and received through the believer's faith alone. The present dispensation is the stewardship of grace. (Eph. 3:2-6, 9-11; Col. 1:25-27; Rom. 6:14; Heb. 7:18, 19)

We are devoted to unity in the essential beliefs (Eph 4:4-6) and liberty in nonessential beliefs (Rom 14). In all beliefs, with God’s help, we demonstrate love (I Cor. 13:2).
